High Power PoE (802.3at)

It provides a power budget of up to 30 watts, making it suitable for devices that require more power, such as PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras, video phones, and access control systems. High Power PoE is backward compatible with Standard PoE devices, offering increased flexibility in deployments.

Ultra Power PoE (802.3bt)

Ultra Power PoE, also known as 802.3bt, is the latest PoE standard developed to power even higher-power devices. It provides a power budget of up to 60 or 90 watts, depending on the implementation. Ultra Power PoE is ideal for devices such as IP-enabled lighting systems, video conferencing systems, and digital signage. This standard expands the possibilities of PoE, enabling the deployment of more demanding devices.

Comparing the Three Types

When choosing a PoE standard, several factors need to be considered. The power requirements of the devices, the distance between the device and the power source, and the compatibility with existing infrastructure are crucial. Standard PoE is suitable for low-power devices within a limited range, while High Power PoE offers more power for medium-power devices.
